(a) To resign in good standing, an employee shall give the appointing authority not less than ten (10) working days prior notice of such resignation unless the appointing authority agreed to permit a shorter period of notice because of extenuating circumstances. The notice of resignation shall be in writing and shall contain the reasons for leaving the City service.

(b) Failure to comply with this section shall be entered in the employee’s service record and may be cause for denying future employment with the City.
