The terms of newly elected Council Members shall begin the Monday following certification of the election, as provided by the City Charter, Section 10-2. On that Monday or as soon thereafter as practicable, the Council Member-elect shall take and subscribe to the oath or affirmation of office, which shall be administered by the City Clerk or other authorized person. At the first regular meeting following certification, or as soon thereafter as practicable, the Council shall elect a Vice-Mayor and otherwise organize for the ensuing year as needed and undertake its duties.
